1971 - Left headlight sticks for 2 seconds after right has fully opened

Hi folks,

Am going for judging in April, and my left headlight sticks for 2 seconds before it lifts, I'm not sure if i would lose points for this, but i'm unsure how to troubleshoot.

I'm pretty handy, but don't want to start messing with things, without researching it, as I am sure it has happened to others.

Is there a headlight troubleshooting guide that anyone is aware of?

Just want to mention, I realize that there is a restoration database, I've been looking there before posting, but I didn't find what I needed, maybe i missed C3 headlight troubleshooting.

First check for any mechanical binding with the door and it's linkage.

Then check the system for vacuum leaks. There's some good guides in this TDB and CF how to do this. It's best to use a vacuum pump a couple of small vice grips to pinch lines and to check the system methodically. You may find leaking connections, actuators or motor. Not difficult just time consuming.

If you use vice grips with the long jaws you can slip a piece of rubber hose over each of them so it is less likely you will damage the vacuum hose.
