Oil Pan Front Seal - Which One?

The oil pan I'm putting on the 327 for my '62 came with a 3/8" front seal. I have the original timing chain cover. Could anyone confirm that I should use the 3/8" seal and not the 1/4" seal that was originally used (and was included in the gasket set for the timing chain cover)? In other words, the thickness of the seal is determined by the configuration of the oil pan and not the configuration of the timing chain cover, right?

    Thanks!!

Thank you but I found the answer in a 2005 Joe Lucia post.
