In the old TIMJ 58-60 the tach face plate was "supposed" to have just the numbers without any coloring around the perimeter od the numbers, pale green, signal green, orange and red. When the dash was restored tyears ago the face plate had the color which was changed to reflect the TIMJG at the time. Bod Baird book and picture on PG 240 was also used to verfy what I did was correct. Now glancing through the new TIMJG it says the coloring around the perimeter of numbers are correct. I looked at the Corvette supply houses and the non-coloured tach faces is what they are selling, (not to say its correct). My car is a Nov 58 build. Was there any running changes? If what the new TIMJG is correct, I guess I've go a miserable job ahead of me to change it

Re: 59 tach face plate low HP
Pat, my '59(March build) had the low RPM Tach and was date stamped Feb '59. It had no outer colored ring. I'll try to get a photo.

Not a closeup, but zoom in for a better view.

Re: 59 tach face plate low HP
Rich, Thanks for the info. According to the new TIMJG the face has a light green, mediun green orange and red coloring on the perimeter as show in the new manual. Many years ago when I had the tach rebuilt I had the face place changed to reflect what is showing in your cars. I have the face plate I had changed which came on the car when I bought it 26 years ago. I really don't want to go through and rip out the entire dash to change it unless its wrong again. Its an early November 59 car.- Top
