What you described above is how replacement/reproduction parts ARE judged. Standard Deduction Guideline #13 states parts (regardless of source) are to be judged on overall degree of correctness as installed on a given car.

What you seek, is how it already is.

Replacing the smaller, inner battery used in the restoration battery case is an art form. I have an NCRS friend who has replaced 4 for me, and improved the tar top as well. It will be a real breakthrough when the 12V lithium ion batteries being made for cars get cheap enough to put in those cases. Right now they are too expensive, but that will likely change fast as manufacturing ramps up. They will be much lighter too, another plus.
