Question on the 1966 Technical Judging Manual- 1966 Production Calendar
Re: Question on the 1966 Technical Judging Manual- 1966 Production Calendar
Joe,
Yes. You can figure this out if you look at Sept 1, 1965, the first day of the ‘66 model year production, where you’ll see the number 98; 98 cars produced that day. And if you look at July 29, 1966, the last day of production you’ll see the number 27720, which ‘66 experts will tell you was the VIN derivative of the last ‘66 produced.
I just checked the birthday calculator on the C2 Corvette registry website. For the ‘66 model year, if you type in VIN 00001, it says the birthday is Sept 2. If you type in VIN 00098, it says the birthday is Sept 3. This suggests that Dan might be correct. And if you type in VIN 27720, it says July 30. So, now I’m definitely confused, and it appears I don’t know what I thought I knew. Not the first time that’s happened.
If ‘66 VIN 00001 wasn’t born until Sept 2, I’m not sure of the value of the production calendar in the JG if it says Sept 1. Unless the day a car was started being built is more important than the day it was finished.
