    Tach cable lubrication

I recently replaced my tach cable and cable housing with a new one from LICS.

I did not lubricate the inner cable when I installed it.

Do the cables on these come pre-lubricated? Or should I lubricate the cable? If I need to lubricate the cable, can I use this stuff?

Some recommend the "Cable-Ease" product from AGS. Their "Lock-Ease" product also contains graphite, so can I use it to lube the tach cable?

    Thanks.

IMO Lock-Ease is a good choice. I believe most products marketed as "cable lubricants" are basically the same thing. - spherical graphic in a petroleum distillate emulsion. The petroleum distillate penetrates and then evaporates leaving behind the spherical graphic, which is a excellent lubricant for these applications that won't attract dirt.

Another option is CRC Power Lube. Its a foaming, low pressure out of the nozzle. Its made for Tachometer and Speedometer cables.

I've used this for the cables a very long time with great results. I take the inner cable out of the sheath, clean both, then apply a small amount along the inner cable while pulling along a backup rag.
