    Water Pump Rebuild

Does anyone advertise in The Driveline as far as rebuilding water pumps besides Bill Mock? This is nothing negative towards Bill because I use him all the time. He does not have what I am looking for and I am trying to find another source.

Chevy Cool out West. Has a very good reputation. Rebuilds and has restored originals.

          Re: Water Pump Rebuild

I have tried Bill Mock, Chevy Cool, and Arthur Gould. Any other suggestions? The GM water pump I am looking for is a #3953692 with a date of Jan., Feb., or early March of 1969.

Michael, have you tried Hart Brothers in Oregon? Here's their site: https://hartbroscore.com/pages/contact

They have tons of water pumps, rebuild them and sell them at a fair price. I was in a hurry for one for my '64 and they took care of me very well.

Hart wanted $325 to rebuild my W/pump. Free shipping.
They do have a lot of rare cores.

Tracy Perf has thousands, did you try there? Here's one he has on ebay with the part number you are looking for...

Ron's also a great source too, he has more than ten on ebay

for this kind of stuff, ebay and google are your starting point to find good inventory

and you are looking in the sweet spot of the Z28 dates, so the really good date codes are going to be higher than what I just saw on ebay.

If Tracy's water pump core prices are like his engine block core prices, prepare to be screwed. I asked about a 350 block that could be bored to 30 over and he wanted $3000, at least 3 times the fair price. He still has it.

                    Re: Water Pump Rebuild

Patrick - your comments are lacking data around that 350 block and what was included, and completely out of context around this thread about finding dated water pumps... It could be you asked for the goose that lays the golden egg.

I sent you ebay listings - Did you look at the ebay listings ?

That is one thing that ebay is great for, its a market place equalizer, price too high, negotiate or move on.

I see tons of parts from other sellers that have crazy prices, take 63 core supports, one listed for $2200 and another $650, your choice.

It was a 350 block out of a 1970 Impala. Is that the golden egg?

Casting numbers and dates, and where else was that block used.

Second there are people out there that do to Camaros, and Impallas what Corvette enthusiast do, restore and mod them, so sure there is more to the story, ther's always three sides. With thousands, its easy to understand it could still be there, then again, good luck finding it, amongst the others.

Back to the water pump in question its clear the further you get away froma 69 date code the value drops, good source selections offered and Ebay continues to advertise - sometimes this take a little patience, years...

I put it in my vice loose because I didn't want to scratch it up duh!, tried my big scredriver to get the slotted screw off the back plate, pump jumped out of my vice, made a half turn in the air and gently fell on my right tennis shoe, blood immediately coming out of the shoe, went to my neighbor who is an RN abd here husband is a DR , any went to DR next day for an X-Ray - yep it's broke what do I do, keep it elevated if possible and OK to pit an ice pack on it. now the real killer where I used to work had scheduled a NORAD tour for with our AF officer crew mates and we were taking an oficial bus there for the tour>? i got to stay at home with my damn foot elevated! Just got a w/p from Bill Mock for my 65, correct and no problems..... still piossed off about missing that classified NORAD tour!
