Well, I understand that Danny but worm gear clamps don't do so well for flight judging as I understand it.
Keith.... Yes if getting judged..... a hit. Yours is a '60 correct? IIRC Lower hose uses Corbin, Upper hose uses Tower.

Keith,
I would recommend not
Tom, I Agree.... that's why I like the Permatex liquid or #2 paste, Indian Head shellac, etc. I've used that stuff for 40 years and never let me down. Yes brand new pumps and fitting were dry but old stuff needs "reinforcement" sometimes, that's why I use the gooey stuff which is semi-non hardening but really holds. PIA to remove the hose later but as mentioned I usually cut them off as they're being replaced anyways.
Now that '60 that had the "combustion gasses in the coolant" problem in my earlier link, no matter what!..... It blew off, Even a couple of worm clamps couldn't keep that doggone hose on. I'm still baffled why the 13lb cap(tested good) didn't release before the hose blew off. One of life's mysteries to me.
But Keith, just make sure that RTV is cured real good before you try it. Maybe it'll work ok. We'll see. I just have a uneasy feeling why all of a sudden you're having this issue. For peace?/piece? of mind, maybe take a trip to NAPA or HF and get one of these and do a quick test. I don;t mean to scare you but JIC.
To tell you the truth, I'm not sure that it was ever there. As Rich Mozzetta said, these pumps perhaps never had the ring around the neck. I've got a spare pump and will take a look at that.
I have seen so many pumps without the sealing ring/bead. Seems the old 50's 60's original pumps I've rebuilt don't. Later ones maybe do. I don't know why some do and some don't. But... I know someone who worked at the pump casting foundry when he was young(he's old now!) making these pumps(maybe it was Saginaw?). I'll shoot him a email and ask again. He's in California so it may take a while.

Yes, for sure Danny but I'm willing to take the hit. It's a NORS pan that has plagued me with leaks at the front and rear of the pan. I may have to pull it again if the leaks don't stop but once they do, I'll paint the gasket orange to disguise it somewhat.

Keith did you get the pan gasket with the "thick" front seal integrated into the one piece? The part#'s for both thick and thin are in the archives here somewhere. IIRC Joe Lucia posted them. I'll see if I can find it..... This thread might help
If your pan is a NORS (repro) it'll have the deeper front spacing to the block.
