Part clarification, physical and part number

The first two pictures are suppose to be that of a rear window run (convertible). The second two pictures are suppose to be that of a rear window run (coupe). One has the top squared off the other with an angle cut. The bottom mounting has the ability for an adjustment for the convertible. The coupe allow for no adjustment.

The dilemma, the 63 AIM call for 3840595 for both coupe and convertible. I just looked at the 63 coupe and the top of the run is squared off. The 3840595 is not squared off. Also, 64 to 67 AIM's called for part 3833307.

Did the 63 use the same part for both coupe and convertible with the ability to adjust? And was the adjustment deleted in 64 to 67. If there was a change in the part then the part number was to change. In this case it looks as if the 3840595 changed its' physical shape but did not change part number.

    Thoughts anyone?

The GM #3833307/3833308 were used for EARLY 1963 coupes and ALL 1963-67 convertibles. These have a 2" bracket and must be used with GM #3711168 bumpers

The GM #3840595/3840596 were used for LATER 1963 coupes and ALL 1964-67 coupes. These have 3/4" bracket.

When did the changeover occur for 1963 coupes? I have no idea.

Anyone have a picture of the coupe window run out of the car. I'd like to see the felt installation. It's the run that is not adjustable. I'm looking to get a set ready to install.

      This one..

Found a picture on the net. Looks like the 18 inch piece from Paragon is not long enough. Time to go to Joannes Fabric Store.

Yep, I just sent them an email asking how long the piece is.

              Harry,

The fabric does not go all the way to the bottom as there is a rubber stop button on the bottom and the window guide stops the runner.

Understand, but the 18 inch piece doesn't even make it to the bumper when I do a 3/4 inch overlap at the top.

                  Harry,

The fabric does not go to the bottom. It stops about an inch above the bottom. I have an original but am too lazy to take the picture and post it!
