'63 Clock Search - Possible Stolen UPS Delivery

I returned my '63 clock to my trusted vendor back east for repair and UPS shows it was delivered yesterday AM but looks like someone my have taken it from his porch (will never send to a residence again). I am hoping maybe his neighbor picked it up but worst case, I will need to find another clock. If anyone knows where I can get one that is already working or is in excellent condition in need of a rebuild (prefer other than those on eBay), please let me know. My original was dated February 1963, but will take a different date. I may try Dave Sokolowski in the DriveLine this weekend.

    Thanks,
    Fred

I've had UPS deliver to the wrong house twice in the past year. I have the 30 email addresses of all my neighbors, I just send an email and located the delivery in an hour. I also called UPS and opened an incident just for insurance purposes.

Fedex did that to me once. Wife made a quilt and sent to her Mom. Tracking said delivered but went to the wrong street name. That owner brought it to her Mom a few hours later. I had quite a discussion with Fedex in the aftermath about that one.

Fred maybe the UPS guy did the same and hopefully it'll show up.

Maybe it's time for some package tracing inside the boxes now. Hmmm.

I too have been burned by UPS fed ex etc. One thing I now do is make sure I have at least $500.00 of insurance on the item and fed ex automatically requires a signature. They also have an option to require a signature for a fee. Rich

Thanks to all for the help. Fortunately he found it - delivered to wrong porch. And yes, I did insure it for $500 but glad I don't have to go through the hassle. Thanks!!

Just a note: $500.00 insurance will NOT cover the cost of a restored 63 Clock. At least the cost of one that is worth a crap!

Why is this your problem? Sounds like your clock guy needs to be the one looking for a clock if you have the UPS delivery confirmation.

Re: '63 Clock Search - Possible Stolen UPS Delivery

A good member arranged his return shipping of a 64 A/6 compressor. Made it about 40 miles and they said the box was damaged. Then the next day the box was opened, the the next day the box was empty! He called and called, but they didn't care. He did not have replacement value on it and lost it. Another made it here from the East to Palm springs, only not to be delivered and sent back within miles of the member. Gone, but he did have replacement value.
Another big problem is damage. Fed X told me that the packages fall 4 feet when sorted on the conveyer belt. Also that it can fall up to 15 feet if the belt gets jammed up. So what does fragill mean or this side up?
I flew cargo in a medium sized airplane on the West coast. I saw workers pick up a box and for no reason throw it on the ground. Had some compressors delivered hanging out of the box, and some with damage to the clutch and shaft.
The answer I got was to pack it knowing that those things happen. It's sad when something original to the car is stolen, not lost but someone working there wanted it.
