    1970 TCS Solenoid on 1970 LT1

Can anyone tell me if the correct finish on a TCS Solenoid, for a 1970 LT1 is the natural steel color, or was it painted (black?).

Also, does anyone know how to test the TCS Solenoid separately and also test the entire TCS system when it is all hooked up in the car?

    Thanks

    Jim------

As far as I know, they were zinc plated steel finish.

      Jim,
As usual, Joe L is right regarding the solenoid finish.

To test the entire TCS system on a 1970 LT1: Once the engine is warm and at normal idle RPM place the transmission in third and then fourth gear. The engine speed should increase several hundred RPM when each gear is selected.

To bench test the solenoid one will need a vacuum pump and a 12v source. I don't have a solenoid or a diagram of it in front of me, so I will leave that part of your question to others for the time being.
