Just recently acquired these 4 steel wheels from a May'64 Corvette, the first 2 are labeled 15x51/2 no letter indicators plus the stamping is smaller than the 2 with the K stampings. The 2 with out the K stamp read 3/64 as noted in the pics, the 2 with the K stampings only indicate a 3, could not find '64 anyplace on the rim. All rims have the 3 raised centre pieces plus the 2 raised areas above the valve stem. Are these original Corvette Rims? Have other rims been seen without the K stamping? Thanks Ric

Re: '64 steel wheels
Richard,
My bet is they are original corvette wheels, the issue you are concerned about is simply the way the stamp was applied. If the other visual appearance is typical of 1963-64 wheels I'd say you are good to go..- Top

Re: '64 steel wheels
Thanks Tim for your response, my concern was the lack of the letter K on two of the wheels, all other aspects are correct for a '64 rim. Ric- Top

Re: '64 steel wheels
Richard,
Only the past 40 years I have had several 1963-1964 Corvettes wheels as well as several 1965-1966 Corvette wheels. A few of my 1965-1966 wheels did not have the year stamping. I also once had a 1963-1964 Corvette wheel (15 X 5 1/2 K) with "59" as the year. It was not a 1959 wheel because it was welded and had the smaller hub hole as was identical to the other 1963-1964 Corvette wheels. I sold four 1963 Corvette wheels to someone in NJ back in 1990 and the 1963 Corvette owner agreed with me that the wheel with the "59" stamping was indeed a 1963-1964 Corvette wheel. Mistakes are made on the assembly line, just like in real life.

Re: '64 steel wheels
Thank you for the info, I will consider these rims to be the originals that were under the '64 that they came from, before I go to all the trouble of cleaning and painting. My car was assembled the end of April and these rims came from a first week of May '64 car, time line is ideal.
Thanks again Ric- Top
