    Convertible top windshield clamps

My convertible top windshield clamp has a broken rivet. Would someone has an opinion about the quality of a new replacement clamp?

    Thank you,
    Ken

Given the supply and demand ratio I doubt that there are more than one or two places making these parts and selling them to all the vendors.

Sounds like something that should be repaired. You might post a photo to get advice on that approach.

If you are referring to the convertible or hardtop latches then I believe that Trim Parts makes a quality part. Their website says that they use original GM tooling.

I've had quality issues with several Trim Parts latches. I believe they are the only manufacturer. The problem was in the base rivets. They were not staked properly and came apart when clamping the top to the frame. The top was not tight and the header was properly adjusted to the windshield frame.

I was shocked as I recall cost then was around $125 each. I complained to them and hopefully they corrected their flaws. This was about 3 years ago. I haven't bought any since then.

I have a loose original set here and for reference the base rivets are quite robust. On my problem repro pieces(2 of them), the latch came apart at the staked side as both rivets pulled out of the steel u-shaped bracket. I could see they were not done right. I restaked them and then were fine.

As far as the pivot rivet goes, it looks unique. I took several photos and took dimensions of the pivot rivet using a dial caliper. The flat head is actually chromed. I'm not sure if you can get the exact rivet, but maybe something close, unchromed.

          Pivot Rivet Dimensions:
          Length: ~0.7" (after staked)
          Head Width: 0.250"
          Shaft Diameter: 0.150"

Here are detail shots of the pivot rivet and swivel pin

A temporary option may be to use a machine screw and thread-locked nut until you find rivets or get the repros.
