63 gas overflow and fuel sending unit hoses

Hello everyone. My car is a 63 coupe L75 which has never been judged. I'm unable to find anything in the judging manual about the gas overflow hose and the fuel sending unit to gas line hose. Possibly I overlooked them or they're not judged. I just replaced my gas tank with a tank I purchased from Quanta. I also ordered new hoses. The overflow hose I received has 4 ribs, is this correct or does it matter? The fuel sending unit to gas line hose has print that says "SAE30R7 Not For Fuel Injection Systems" Is this correct or does it matter? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Do you have a copy of the AIM. I think the NCRS sells them. In section 8 the fuel tank, sender and overflow hose are shown. The original fuel sender on your car was stamped AC I attached a photo of the one on my car. The replacement overflow hose usually has a spring in the end, 63 did not have that spring the AIM shows the routing and attachments. Fuel sender 6.jpg

      Bob
your lock ring is not fully seated. If you are leaking, that's why. If not leaking, I would leave well enough alone.

        Don,
I've owned the car for over 20 years and that has never been touched and no leak so I think I'll leave it alone.

Good call; don't touch it and knock wood.

Bob must have an original/NOS "O" ring; if it were a repro he'd need the sending unit completely tightened and even then it might leak...

One of these is a repro - the other NOS; guess which is which ?!

Kerry,if your overflow was original it is smaller inside Diameter than the replacements, 63 overflow hose is another one year only.not many know this, the plastic nipple that it slides onto is also smaller on one side. Re use if it’s good. Also As Bob says there’s no internal spring on hose. That started in 64

Kerry etal, Make sure rubber hose you are using for your fuel line to pump, etc is compatible with ethanol which is alcohol. Do this for safely and don't worry about originality. But it's your car so do what you want.

Fuel injection story that has nothing to do with this post. Or does it.
The PCV valve hose on a '63 has a pattern to it amost identical to original. This info from Robert Jorjorian an eon ago.
The original hose is 1/2" ID. Well I found a hose that amost identical to original (sorry I can't share it as don't have much). The problem is the hose is 7/16" ID.
I soak the 7/16" hose in a jar with ethanol in it for about two hours. It expands the 1/16" to 1/2". So then I put it on the PCV valve and when the rubber dries its a very snug fit.
Moral of story. Go to your local auto store and ask for rubber hose for ethanol. John D

From my memory, the bottom O ring is correct. Although John Wolf & Co. does excellent work, I've used them twice, they include an O ring that looks like the top one. The outside diameter is smaller and the O ring itself is fatter causing the O ring opening to be smaller and it doesn't seat properly on the sending unit.
