    69 427/400 Fan Shroud question

    Hi All,

Ive been looking at reproduction shrouds online and they appear to have what looks like a cutout section on one side (please see pics attached). I think its original and looks like it has the correct part number and UCC logo so i'd like to get it repaired if it needs it.

Is this correct for July 69 L68 (with AC) as the new seals from the doc are full length. These would fit the other side ok but i don't want to have any areas that could allow air to bypass the radiator?

Also, what is the correct coolant to use given i'm replacing the radiator with a Dewitts aluminium direct fit reproduction?

I understand we might not have the same manufacturers here in Oz but i use Penrite oils and like most of there products.

    Cheers
    Grahame

That missing area isn't right. I have an original, non functional 119 shroud with those side pieces intact. Would require a skilled splice of the parts. If interested in it let me know.

Thanks Tom, I'd be interested but shipping to Australia could be an issue? Feel free to contact me via PM if you would like to take this offline.

        Tom,

I've been having a look around at reproduction and original shroud images online and they all appear to be the same as mine, more or less. This still leaves the question of do i just make the seal fit on the shorter side?

Attached are photos of an NOS GM 3956119 fan shroud. It has the same "cut-away" area on the right side of the shroud (as installed in the car). This "cut-away" is designed to function in conjunction with the relief area on the rear of the shroud to provide clearance for the lower radiator hose. It needs to be there. Simply cut the radiator seal to fit on that side. I can tell you, for certain, that this shroud will work perfectly with a DeWitt's Direct Fit radiator which I highly recommend.

          Use Zerex G-05 coolant.

Thank you very much Joe, this puts my mind at ease and i'll follow your advice on the coolant which in other posts Duke had mentioned it should be 50/50 with distilled water. And, thank you for staying up so late to take the pictures.

            Cheers
