The NOS 3741428 valve shown in the photo below is listed in my vintage Chevrolet parts catalogs in Gr. 8.866 as for all models with 3/4" hose and described as "VALVE ASSY, water shut-off (hose insert type)". Was it ever original equipment on any specific Chevrolet or GM model or was it a repair part you added because you could not shut off your heater in the summer time?
Dave
our 54 vin 2184, had an identical valve when i bought the vet i 1970. i don't judge 53-55 very often, but i've seen valves such as this on most i've judged. the container u show looks like 1970's-80's vintage parts boxes. mike
Thanks Mike. I assume the valve is attached to the water pump.
Back in the 1970's when I owned a 1970 Camaro SS350 I spliced a similar aftermarket non-threaded brass valve in one of the heater hoses to completely shut off the heater during the summer months.
