I have 2 -66 corvettes, both have new harness's and bulbs, they both have low gauge light brightness, all other dash lights, courtesy lights have good brightness. turning the light switch does work. Is there a way to increase the brightness of just the gauge's ?

I had the same issue with my '67. I replaced the light switch and dash light brightness increased noticeably at the maximum position. I think this has to do with corrosion on that circular copper coil in the switch that controls the amount of current going to the bulbs. The cluster lighting got noticeably brighter (I'm using stock bulbs). However, the lighting on the center console 'pods' is still too dim for my liking.
The dash light switch is pretty generic - I got mine at NAPA for about $30, and it fit exactly.
You can go to superbrightLEDs.com and purchase the BA9 SMD "Warm White" bulbs; I can't speak to judging but they would be hard to detect as they are not harsh like other hues...especially if they are dimmed to stock light levels... You can install the LEDs by pulling the cluster forward and not fully removing it....if you're VERY dexterous - I did..
