I have a nice unmodified smog pump (which might be a "take off") with casting number "7832904", "METRIC", "13" and "DF" (inside a football), and date code "087 9" (the 87th day of 1989) on the cast iron part of the pump. There is a large "JT" ink stamping on the housing as well as the number "11971". According to my research A.I.R. Pump # 7849167 is stamped with either "KA" or "JT" as shown in a 1988 Chevrolet truck catalog. GM pump # 7849167 is also listed for the 1987 "F" (Camaro or Firebird) A.I.R. model with 5.0L V8 (Lg4/305H) engine in a 1988 parts catalog that I found on the web.
I have a 1984 Corvette Parts Catalog (December 1983) that lists 2 A.I.R. different A.I.R. pumps, GM # 7842613 and GM # 7845380 in Gr. 3.660 for the 1984 Corvette. My 1982-1990 GM Parts History manual shows that GM # 7842613 was replaced by GM # 7845380 for over the counter service parts.
3 questions:
1. What is the A.I.R. Pump part number for the 1989 Corvette?
2. What is the 2-letter ink stamping on a 1989 Corvette A.I.R. pump?
3. How does one decode "11971" on my A.I.R. pump?
