    1969 Rear Vent Drain Hose

It's been so long since I removed the rubber hoses and shields, I don't remember the details for reinstalling. In the AIM (F21) it appears as though the hose doesn't penetrate the wheel well and that it mounts to the interior wall. The shields are on the outside with the hoses secured using three pop rivets. The sequence being - rivets, rubber hose, fiberglass wall and then the metal shield. It just seems like this won't provide a good seal with the flat end of the rivets against the rubber flange (not keeping the rubber tight against the fiberglass between the rivets). Am I missing something, or am I correct? This is a coup with A/C.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Yes the details in the AIM aren't as clear as they could be but the drain hose does go through a hole in the inner wheel well there. The hose is installed from the wheel well side, towards the luggage area. The metal shield then covers the rubber flange which will be on the wheel well side. Then the rivets are installed from the luggage side, through the rubber flange and finally the metal shield.
