There were two different deck heights for big blocks. The 9.8" was used for most applications including all passenger cars and light trucks. I believe it was also the most popular for most marine applications, especially inboard powerboats. The other deck height block was 10.2". It was used mostly for HD truck and industrial engine applications. Some may have been used for marine but I expect this would have been limited to HD commercial applications (e.g. large fishing boats, etc.). 9.8" and 10.2" never share casting numbers.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

yes this is referred to as tall deck. this is a 351 block so the 10.2 does not apply i see it would have a different casting and that would be a complete different motor. thanks again, Ed

4 bolt main. Stamping pad top of block had been decked, so it is blank.
