    67 Bracket Identification

Can someone tell me where this bracket belongs? I think it belongs to the front windshield or dash but not certain. Working on a frame off restoration that someone else dissembled 25 years ago and nothing was bagged and tagged. I have two of them.
    Thanks Tom

There are two of these brkts one on each end of the lower interior windshield mldg, adjacent to the vertical mldgs. The slotted hole mounts to the upper dash mounting bolt and small hole uses a phillips head self tapping screw. The hole referenced in the raised center is drilled after the lower interior moulding is in place. It appears that this a new replacement.

Peter: We love '67s. Here's two photos showing what I found under the ends of the dash on a '65 coupe. Near the bottom of the A-pillar.

Note the dash attachment BOLT (not in the photo) overlaps just one side (slotted) of each bracket (There are two per car, and you will find others with "fingers" that are clipped on the front edge of the dash. These are for the lower windshield garnish trim.) The remaining machine screw (shown in photos) has a philips head and a small "integrated washer". Paragon Corvette in Michigan lists these, as well as the dash holding bolt on the slotted side.

Also note the two diff. attempts to "shoot" (install) the chrome plated garnish molding screw. Resulted in two small holes on the top of each bracket. Yours looks like the shooter missed the bracket completely. Hope you have the orig. garnish to see how this lines up. Don't be afraid to drill a new hole for the (chrome plated) trim screw. The first one shown below is the RH (pass) side.

NCRS fyi: I attempted to edit so I could change "Peter" to "Tom" in my original reply above. The system will not let me do that because the "post is too short". Even adding ten more words, as instructed by the error message, could not get me to a finished edited re-post, so I added this.

Not the first time for this issue.

the glitch you are describing is common to the program apparently. You can work around it when you get the "message too short" warning by hitting the "go advanced" button. Leave your edit just as it is. Then hit save changes. The edit will take. When you have a problem with a post, just drop me a note. I'll fix it for you. "NCRS" doesn't read these threads, but I do, especially yours.......

Thanks Donnie. I did write to you via email.

Tom: The bracket that I referenced with "fingers" looks like these. You'll need four across the top edge of the dash. Picture is from Paragon Corvette's web site. Available at other vendors, such as CorvetteFasteners.com also.

My normal luck: Just one is usually lost or missing...

                    Thanks Tom,
the clips with fingers I have and are attached to the dash, now those two square holes below the A pillar make sense,
                    appreciate the updated info
