    1964 AOS Trim Tag Question

The current TIGJM states that All 1964 AO Smith trim tag paint codes end with AA. I looked at an AOS built car last weekend with a paint code ended with a single A. I know mistakes were made, but does this look correct?

    Thanks,

    James

Re: 1964 AOS Trim Tag Question

For 1964 AOS body cars, "AA" is incorrect. The "AA" is for St Louis body.

I believe a single "A" is correct. Later year AOS body cars dropped the "A".

As far as C-2's, the AO Smith cars carried the single A on the trim tags through 1967.

          Steve:

This is incorrect. Google a pic of a 66 or 67 AOS Tag, or see photos in Sinor and Grenning Trim Tag Book. Also, look at the pics of 65 AOS tag as well.

My bad. I read too quickly and thought the reference was to the body number as opposed to paint code.

Re: 1964 AOS Trim Tag Question

Body build date closely matches up with the body number compared to my 65 registry. I am wondering about those creases by the rivets. I have seen those creases on cars with re attached trim tags. VIN tag match with the trim tag per the birthday book?
              Thanks.
