Were the bolts that hold the splash shields to frame recess hex head with flat washers. Or Clutch head .

all three of our 57's utilize clutch head machine screws , except the two fasteners that secure the splash shield to the frame which are recessed hex head bolts with a "M" embossed on their heads. all three 57's have been apart so i can't be sure the clutch heads are correct. i did the first 57 back in the late 80's and was compulsive about using its original fasteners. the 2nd 57 was a total wreck when i restored it in the mid 2000's.i probably used the first 57 as a template to restore # 2 57. the last 57 wasn't restored by me, but rather by dick robinson. the AIM, section 11, page 2 illustrates the various fasteners involved. good luck . mikeLast edited by John W.; August 11, 2019, 08:34 AM.- Top

Bill Conrad was kind enough to send me pictures of his ordinal survivor 1957 Looks like no slots and and no washers .Recessed bolts look like the Circle C.
