French Locks vs. lock washers?

I am thinking about using a combination of lock washers and Loctite 242 instead of the French Locks on my '64 axle bolts. Is that safe? I would appreciate your thoughts.

Why would you want to do that? How often do you pull axles? Keep it as it came from the factory!

Due to the fine threads the cap screws rarely loosen up so I would stick with the original clips.

I was not referring to originality but safety. So then try lock washers and see if any change. But a vibration should be a bearing or a U joint. Go for a 30 minute ride and try a heat gun on all rotating parts you may find a hot spot.

For short term diagnosing lock washers should be fine. Personally I am a believer in Loctite, even with the french locks. JMHO
