1957 gas tank cover felt and screws

Did the hardtop only cars have the felt pad on the gas tank cover . Did all 9 of the machine screws have the star washers . Were the screws painted .

The screws were painted as the cover was in place prior to paint
I am unsure about the pad

Cover was laid unattached over gas tank, painted , wiring next, screwed to secure. ( my 62 screws were blackened with captured flat washers Phillips head )....just my observation. Ed

My HT only 57 (#58XX) has a pad,

Dan,

IIRC the only exception for '57 Hardtop Only cars was "NOT" having the Softtop T-Nuts installed during body assembly per the AIM.
