Another 63 claiming Knock Off Wheels delevered with the car.

"Comes with the same wheel set that rolled off the show room floor in 1962. These are the real rare original magnesium knock off wheels. GM recalled these wheels in 1963 and 1964 because the magnesium leaked air. Only 12 sets were not turned in and this is one of the sets, these wheels are invaluable."

The SWC is in OR and advertised for 105K on Craigs.
Excuse my ignorance but it is my understanding that are not any documented cases of KO wheels on a 63..
Were the early wheels Magnesium not aluminum?

This is a later car, with the early rear view mirror and a AM-FM. No VIN or documentation mentioned in the add.
Obviously a nice car. Motor seems to have been out as the bell-housing is completely covered with paint.
    340HP 4-speed. 35K miles on the car.

    Interesting at the very least.

Richard I always thought that the early KO's came with the two eared knock offs as shown at the London Earls Court Show September of 62

Obviously on the red car they are reproduction wheels. They were aluminum, any of the ones you see on the show cars had tubes in them to keep the air from leaking, Only on the show cars.

Fergit the wheels. Original paint and interior? That is where the value is if it turns out to be true

As I said long ago I saw a new '63 with knockoffs on the transporter in '62. But this was not for a typical customer. Customer had anything he wanted from Chevy. So please do not quote me for documentation.

Meanwhile in the summer of '62 at the GM training center I saw my 1st '63 coupe. Was silver with black walls and silver rims. Car was up on the rack in the Chevrolet class room which was next to the United Motors class room where I took the FI course and every other course you could think of.
