I'm seeking a definitive answer as to whether or not the door jam (post) should have the metal (rubber coated) weather strips installed. These strips are held in place by 3 screws and a rivet at the windshield channel, that is if they are supposed to be there at all. I can't find any guidance on this in the new 66 judging manual. My car had them when purchased about a year ago and they looked pretty old. I removed them for a re paint and I'm not sure whether or not I should reinstall them. The aftermarket replacements are too bulky, do not slide up into the door channel far enough and will not let the doors close properly do not allow the doors to close properly. Is it also possible that the screw holes could have been there originally and the strips not installed at the factory?
My 66 convertible has them and I understand that's correct for the 66 convertible.
Id really like to have a judge's ruling on the coupe issue if possible.
Thanks
TC
