    Build Sheet

I'm new to NCRS. With a little help from another NCRS member I finally got around to removing my build sheet. Now what? I mean... Any preferred method in storing it? I'm a little stumped about the dealer look up, I get 3 hits for 09/322? Is there some NCRS "register system" for the car. I volunteered the car to the National Judging Retreat in Grapevine in March. I guess that'll answer a lot of questions.

Build Sheet attached. Could seem to get it to post inline here.

Take it to a professional frame shop. They have matting and other things to persevere it

I wouldn't do that if it were me.
        1) you'd have to give it them to mount - they won't do it while you wait.
        2) No matter what you use as glass, from what i learned researching this very topic relating to my tank sticker - light will destroy the tank sheet no matter what glass is used. UV glass won't prevent light from turning the sheet and some of it's numbers dark/black. Again, this is what i found with some research.
        3) Best place to store it is in darkness. I have mine in between clean sheets of paper inside a sealed box. No sunlight. The remaining piece still on the tank.
        4) Matting isn't a protectant, it's for aesthetics.
        Just my two cents.

That's exactly what I did. I made a color copy for display. Thanks

A very valuable and interesting document. A wealth of information there, including that 3 digit sequence number scribbled on the right side "148". The NCRS service will provide the dealer and build date of the car, if you are interested, NCRS can also validate it using the information on the sheet. I look forward to seeing it in Grapevine.

              Re: Build Sheet

I was lucky. 1) I bought the car with Zero documentation and no hope of ever getting any. Four months later the owner gave the broker a very complete set of documents 1979-date. 2) The build sheet. From what I can tell, one of the most intact I've ever seen.

I do have a mystery. After I cleaned the body around the tank... I came up with this... attached.

Yes, that is a body number, it many times doesn't coincide with the sequence number on the tank sticker.

The "148" number on the tanks sticker is loosely tied to your VIN Number. If interested, post up the VIN and we can show this link to you.

                        Gary:

Will send you a PM later today or tomorrow explaining the correlation. The fact that your car is such a late build (last few days of production) affects this a bit.......compared to most others.

You should be able to find that same number on the inside of the doors behind the door panels and on the Firewall. As for the firewall numbers, on my 67, it's on the passenger side of the firewall below the heater core box.

You may need to stabilise the document. Most papers have some sort of acid ph level or something along those lines. Anything that comes in contact with the tank sticker could have a detrimental affect over time.

Terry McManmon wrote about some research he did on document conservation and conservators. It was either on this discussion board or in the Driveline. My search skills are not the best so I didn't find it. Or maybe my memory is failing. You may have better luck finding it.
