    Tim,

The valve covers don't leak. I'm looking for a dye kit that will show the leaks. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Re: Oil leak - rear of SB engine

I've had three engine builds in the last 8 years, a 283 and two 327s. All three of them had the same leak after break in. My 67 which a previous owner had rebuilt someting in the late 90's has the same lead.

On the three builds I was involved with, we used what is purported to be the best Fel Pro seal, the brown one #2912. Installed per Fel Pro instruction and I still had/have leaks.

A friend recently came across a one piece rear main seal for our older engines. I have not used one, so this is by no means a recommendation, just a thought. See the YouTube link below.
