65 Grille Question

On my 65 Coupe I just found a attachment tab missing that attaches the grille center support (#12). Hardware used is a screw(#2) and nut(#4). I hope the attachment came through ok.

Any advice on a work around to attach the center support? It's been like that for years so is there any adverse effects I may experience?

Are you referring to the fiberglass tab on the nose panel that the center support attaches to?

Work some matting and rosin to create the missing fiberglass. It is difficult to add this piece so it is invisable that it was removed or broken off.

Follow this by grinding and sanding end up by repaint the area. Use the grill to mark the mounting hole for the clip.

I think I have it sorted out as far as parts go and what is applicable to a 65. I was confused as to what support rods go on a 65. I am ordering the correct support rod and hardware tomorrow and my only issue is the tab that the upper center grille attaches to. I have no fiberglass experience so until the car is put in the garage for the winter I'm going to install the correct hardware minus the tab. From what I can see, the tab isn't that big a deal structurally (If it is, please tell me). I'm going to start practicing with fiberglass kits and see what I can come up with.

Yes. The tab is missing and has been since I bought the car in 1987
