Take a look at the attached photos and see if you can tell what my problem is - easy, right? In dry-fitting the gasket before gluing, I naturally started at the door post and found that the gasket took the first turn by the drip rail fairly well but was stretched way too tight at the bottom. I also took Bob Baird's advice from the Corvette Restoration manual and dry-fitted it beginning at the opposite end by the door handle. It fit pretty well also until the turn at the bottom aft of the door when it became evident that there is simply too much gasket and the plugs aren't spaced correctly. I am thinking that I should start fitting it at the door post and re-positioning the gasket plugs by drilling new holes in the gasket then proceeding around the perimeter to the end where I will cut off any excess gasket. Does anyone else have a better idea? ![](https://www.forums.ncrs.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=87592&stc=1)

Re: What's wrong with this picture? C1 door main weatherstrip.
Keith,
It looks several inches too long. (I have a flair for the obvious.)
I don't know about C1, but C3 door w/s is two pieces with a butt seam at the bottom of the door. Many repro seals are one piece which probably seal better but don't look original.
If this is the case for C1, maybe cut out a section from the w/s at the bottom so it fits.
Alternatively, call your supplier and ask for one that fits.Mark Edmondson

Thanks for the thoughts Mark. C1s are a single length of main door weatherstrip so I will probably just relocate the snaps as needed by drilling holes to fit in the weatherstrip and then cut off the length as needed at the end opposite the door post.Keith MacRae
