    Correction/Guidance - 1100697 generator

1100697 is a 60 amp generator that appears on 65 Corvettes with CAC , K66 and a L76 or L79 motor. Gr. 2,275 of the Oct 1964 parts book (with page leaf update from May '65 and July'65) shows this # but calls out that this # does NOT include Pulley or a Fan; in Gr.2.274, it seems to call out the pulley as 3846180 and another section clls out that 64/5 Corvettes ALL used FAN 3843346.
The 6th edition JG calls out 3875968 as the pulley and makes no mention of the fan. Clarify, please and if you have one, get in touch. Thanks.

Hi Loren -- Here's one I have, with the number stamped on the inner hub (ie, not visible for judging). It's of the integrated fan/pulley type; not very sexy, which i why I swapped it with the one on my L76/C60/K66 tanker (long gone). I could take more pics if needed.

Wayne, Thanks. That pulley appears in Gr. 2.274 as "65 PASS, CORVETTE w/Air Cond exc. 62 amp., 6cyl w/P/S" - so "62" is NOT "60" amp; no mention is made of the integral fan or any description thereof; where does the Fan entry for 64/5 Corvette all having a fan with 11 points come from?
Anything in variance on the 11 fan points?

        Loren,

I was curious so I consulted some of my catalogs. My 1965 P & A catalog ( July revision ) shows the part # 3875968 for '65 Pass & Corvette with C. A. C. with 62 amp. which is as you have the stated. I think the 62 amp is a misprint and should read 60 amp. If you look in the first column regarding pulleys, this gives info regarding the fan. This pulley has a " yes " notation which means the fan was part of the pulley. Wayne confirmed this point. In April of '67, the #3875968 pulley was replaced by #3909817 which was also pulley/ fan arrangement but may have design change in the fan blade style or position.

Okay, that settles it. I'm taking my wrenches and camera and breaking into Ward Gapps'a garage in Scottsdale to disassemble his alternator. Ward's been known not to take any prisoners, but otherwise is a pretty good guy. More later. Thanks.

Loren -- while you're in there, see if the stator is like this one I have (NOS for Passenger, Corvette with 1100697 60 amp). I've compared it to others I have, and, off hand, can't see any difference. Notice absence of "dark caramel-colored coating on the "laminated metal plates..." .
