1962 RPO 687 (big brakes) question

I never really looked at the only RPO 687 sheet in the 1962 AIM before. Two things stand out on that page.

    1) View B (the extra bumper to be welded on each side) is something I have never found done on any of my 3 Big brake 62's, including the Gulf Racer (but never really looked for those brackets, either). Anyone ever seen these that truly were done at the factory?

    2) View A, unless I am reading it wrong, shows the air ducts outboard of the lower radiator area as having the flanged portion on the grille side of the inner fender, with the attaching screws with the head of the screw toward the grille. What I have always seen is that the flanged portion is on the wheel side of the inner fender and the head of the screws are on the wheel side, with threads pointed toward the grille.

Is my recollection wrong on the ducts? Have I missed the brackets? Or did production ignore the AIM info?

Mike, both my 59 and 60 had the air ducts on the engine side of the inner fender.

Mike, FWIW my Mid-America 1960 AIM (cr 1977) does NOT have "View B" of the extra "bumper".

        Loren,
Neither my 60 or 61 AIM has any indication of that bracket. Looking at all the revisions at the bottom makes me doubt that it ever really made it onto a car. Kinda like the 62 idler pullet in the AIM that never made it onto a 62.

My '62 VIN 944 doesn't have the extra brackets as shown in View B, and the ducts depicted in View A have the flanges and screw heads on the wheel side of the fenderwells. However, my car has never been judged to be anything by anybody, so cadaver emptier or whatever they say in New York City.
