    Description for bolt #444684

Does anyone know the thread count, length, head size and marking, and finish of 5/16" GM bolt 444684?

Also, is there a book or data base out there that cross references these GM nuts and bolts by part number to description?

I know about AMK but many nuts, bolts, and washers are not in their inventory, including 444684.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Dave - thanks, I didn't see that - the page I linked to shows the dimensions of the fastener 444684. That is what I was zero-ing in on. It would be nice if the reference provided a description of the head marking, grade of bolt and finish. I say that for the benefit of Michael who asked the original question.

            Thanks Dave and Ed.

It looks like this part number comes in two lengths. I'll be using the 3/4 bolt as this application is for the mounting flange of my 72 a/c compressor.

Don't you just love it - how can two items that are obviously different have the same part number. Good luck - I hope the info I posted helped.... but I would not be surprised (or offended) if you said it didn't.

                  Thanks everybody for the info.

Thanks Page for the added Grade 8, zinc finish information.

I sure wish there was a data base available with this information. That might be the next bestseller in the NCRS bookstore.

They don't have the same part number and couldn't have the same part number. The 2-3/4" bolt was GM #454892.

GM specifications don't include the manufacturer's headmarking, only a requirement for such marking. Whatever manufacturer makes the bolt includes their headmarking. Many manufacturers may manufacture any fastener, particularly common fasteners.

                    GM #444684 was never a SERVICE-available bolt.

Mike my 72 a/c comp. bolts are WB head marks if that helps.
