    1964 early car Hood Weatherstrip

How far should I carry the weather stripping on the hood. Judging manual wants it all the way around to the hood pins, many article believe this is not correct. Anyone know for sure.

    Yes, I know for sure.

Look on page 211 of Nolands Vol 2 for 63-67 Corvette. The 3823433 weatherstrip is shown in the correct position.

It does not wrap, it is cut about at the hood pins, with an angle cut, here is a picture:

The OP was specific about "early" 64 hood weather strip positioning. Are the answers and picture specific to the "early" '64's or are they correct for all '64's? Thanks.

As far as I am aware, all '64s had the same cut and position.

I think that you will find that VERY LATE '63s got the weatherstrip rapped around the hood corner and toward the front of the car 3" or 4", thus allowing the discontinuation of the rear hood guides AND stopping "hood shake".

Loren, do you mean '63 or '64 in your very late description? I have a very late '64 (195xx) that I believe to have the original hood w/s and it wraps around the corners and goes towards the front a few inches on each side. The reason I ask is, if we are using Nolan's book as the guide, look at page 98. There is a very clear picture of the 63 hood w/s and it does not go around the corners. If, as you say (and it wasn't a mistake) they change the configuration of the w/s in late '63, how can I assume that the picture on page 211 is correct for the '64 model? They wouldn't make the change in late '63 and then change it back for '64......

NO hood guides in 1964. If you go Exterior section 3, you will find the story of the lack of guides at the end of the year; eliminated is the explanation - that they wrapped the wstrip around the corners of the hood. As it now reads, someone would have you believe that they SOLVED
the problem in '63 (including saving $$$); changed their minds in 1964 and undid the wrap around and then in 65/6/7 returned to wrapping the weatherstrip around the corner.
