The JM states that in beginning in late 1963 the half shaft is bolted to the rear spindle flange and the bolts are secured with steel French locks. It does not address early (nov 1962) cars. So are lock washers used or nothing?
Thanks
Jeff,
Observing original cars, the french locks were not used in 63, or only VERY late. 20939 still had no french locks. The AIM 4-1-63 revision appears to not affect production for a long time. Most cars are observed with lock washers under the bolt heads, however some had no washers at all. More observations of late cars are necessary to pinpoint the introduction of french locks.
Hope this helps, Marco
