    1962 Manual Window Crank

The NCRS TIMJG pg 40 shows the number on the inside of the shaft of the crank handle to be 4151868. I bought a NOS crank handle with the number 4151869 on the inside of the of the shaft. The Judging Guide does mention this number as being on the inside of the large round end of an original crank. Does anyone know if these numbers are interchangeable?

I believe the 2 numbers, which are CASTING numbers and not finished part numbers, were used interchangeably. There must have been some difference between the 2 castings but, whatever it was, I suspect it's extremely minor. In any event, if the handles have the chrome knob, they are almost certainly the correct Corvette handle. While the same handle castings were used for many other Chevrolet models of the period, I believe that only the Corvette handles had the chromed metal knob.

I'm not completely convinced, but I think the JG has a typo for the last digit. I have several originals as well as NOS handles. They all have the casting# 4151869 along with the small cloverleaf. Pics iconified below.

The Handle & Knob Assy is Part# 3725377 which was used on all/only 1956 to 1962 Corvettes.

PS Joe, my '59 had a wrong handle on the driver side when I bought the car 31 years ago. It took me over 25 years to realize it was wrong, likely because I couldn't see the arm face details when driving. It has no ribs. I guess what tricked me was that it had a chromed knob. I'm not sure what it came from. This....

        Guys,
My window crank looks exactly like Rich's pics 6-8. The JG has a picture showing the shamrock and 4151868 so I don't think it is a misprint. My guess is that the 4151869 is a GM replacement handle or at least a later run handle. The box I received it in has all the correct part #'s.
