Don't think extension #3771959 is anything special --- Part #s 3771960 (1st & 2nd lever) 3771961 (3rd & 4th lever) 3771962 (reverse lever) are listed on extension assembly chart for a multitude of different T-10 assemblies. If still there, chart states: "Identified by metallic tag embossed with letters (see chart) under the lower front side cover bolt."
David, I don't recall ever seeing a casting # and date in that location, minus any markings on the right side. The car in question has some other interesting features. Anything in your files that indicates the VIN of Eng. # 9905?
Trans & Assembly chart dated 3-21-62 lists 15 different T-10 4 speed assembly versions. Many more in other years.
Interesting Information: Extension print #3813490 dated 3-10-61 notes the following in revision column:
NOTE 1 Dated 7-11-61 to revise this extension to agree with 3771959
NOTE 2 Dated 8-16-61 Trade Mark and Pat. Pend. Ident. added.
NOTE 3 Part No. and Chevrolet Trade Mark must appear on this part. No other identification to appear on this part without Engineering Approval.
NOTE 4 Emblem Part No. and patent letters to be raised .020 Max.
NOTE 5 Outside MFRS. ident. note. REM.
In middle of racing season so do not have a lot of time to research further, sorry!

Thank You David !
Stay safe on the track or trail or water or in the air. Not sure what type of racing you're into.
