    Bloomington Gold Indianapolis 2017 Photos

    Hi Folks,

My first time ever at BG. I managed to get some sMartphone photos over to my Photobucket account to post here. Yesterday was a rainy day but Judging ensued between downpours. Here are some photos to peruse through. There is no specific order as I just blindly uploaded my phone pics. Some may be mis-oriented due to dUmbphone photo mis-attributing.I'll try to take more today.

Thanks Rich. I haven't been to Bloomington since... it was in Bloomington. So the photos were a treat.

Lots of pop-ups at Photobucket. Including this scary ad. I hope no one is dumb enough to use one of these.

I too have always thought about going, but then I see pictures like that, consider it is an outdoor show in a part of the country known for bad weather, and always chicken-out.

Me too Loren. But we must meet in Texas. You're going, right?

Rich thanks for sharing the pictures.

I shouldn't say anything, but I'm just a sorry hater as I dislike Photo Bucket with considerable passion.

I know PB is a pain and I don't like their style, but it was the only way I could post them from my smartphone.

If anyone knows how to get photos uploaded to here from the phone, let me know for the next time.

When I return and have time I may load them here directly.

Rich, Nope. I'm going to use the $185 to buy another car. Didn't think it would give me $110 more fun than Laughlin, where a bunch of old old-timers got to repeat old lies........and discuss skeletons.

I too attended, on Friday only. I wanted to watch the judging process and try to determine what differences there may be between the NCRS approach and the Bloomington Gold folks. As I found out, a good many of the judges for BG are also NCRS judges. Good folks and more willing to roll around in inches of water on the parking lot than I would have been.

The weather was horrible - a veritable deluge of rain from 8AM until 4pm. There were times when it lightened up a bit, but not for real long. The poor vendors that were outside just gave up and covered up everything they brought.

And I was shocked that the cars were moved out of garages to sit in this deluge, and in fact judge them in the rain. some were pulled under an overhang but the rain was so hard that it didn't provide much cover. I watched as these great cars were opened up (doors, hoods, trunks) in the monsoon. I watched rain pour into the interior of a car, run onto the dash and then onto the seats and carpets. Imagine your car, after prepping it for judging not to mention the countless hours and $'s for the restoration process, to have the equivalent of several fire hoses directed to openings while wet folks crawled around, under and over your car. One survivor (68) had over an inch of water on the floor of his original carpet. It was like a horror movie for car nuts.

I couldn't get a clear answer why the judging had to be done outside when there were drier alternatives. I stood out in the rain as certain models were being judged, but for the most part, only the owners and judges were brave enough to endure the pounding.

The display of '67s was really great and fortunately they were all inside and protected from the mess. And I got to meet some real nice folks who were quite helpful in my quest for knowledge. But I just didn't have the heart to ask owners to open the hood so I could check how they did one thing or another.

Interesting observations, and i had several friends take their vintage Shelby cars to Indy 2 weeks ago for the Shelby American Auto Club National. This is a huge tent they rented for their Concours judging for the large lot at Indy, perhaps BG needs to think about something like this:

That tent was there, full of vendors.

Well I guess that shows the priority BG gives to owners and judges don't we......
