Re: 1957 Frame off restoration in process

Yes there are indeed, Richard, like bondo worms. I did remove two on the passenger fender upper and lower before final paint. But now I'm hesitant about chiseling them off for fear they'll disrupt the painted surface. What do you think? Then maybe I can get inside with a 90 degree drill and open them up. Comments? Thanks. Frank
BTW, are you the person who wrote the C1 restoration guide? I'm using that. It's great for a first-timer. I've removed the old frame and installed the new glass and rubber. Haven't separated the header trim yet. Thanks again

Frank, Try a fine hacksaw blade then lightly sand to be sure the hole shadow shows.

Have a helper with you when you drill from the inside. The helper holds a piece of soft pine end grain as a backer against the outside. This way the drill bit won't crack out the paint when it pierces through.

Yes I did the C1 56-62 Windshield doc. Glad it helped. Get a bunch of putty knives and butter knives to get that header trim off.

Before you install the trim, squeeze the ends tighter than the post end OD. Slip the driver side over the post in its nubs, and line up the pass side. Snap it down over the pass side post. Clip it over the post nubs, if possible. If you got the posts rechromed, I hope the didn't put too much copper on those ends.

Update for those of you wonder If I'm ever gonna finish. Thanks to Richard Mozzetta for his windshield video and to all of you who help others. Cove moldings for which I had to find the original holes are on. Door hardware except for door glass is in. Windshield is ready to install.

Way, way back when in '69 Bill McDonald had the Chevy store in Nashville, IN he told me about the best looking Corvette he ever had in the store-a '57 FI Artic Blue/Silver with red interior.

Not FI but I have to agree about the color combination. I know the wheels should be blue (had a second correct set with bias-ply tires for judging) but I liked the red band.
