What kind and size of hose is used between the fuel filter and the metal return line on 1968 s with the 390/427 ? Is it just standard rubber fuel line? I replaced the filter and the old hose was hard and brittle. I used standard rubber fuel hose but it just doesn't look right. Any original owners that recall what was used? Rich

Re: 1968 L36 Fuel Filter hose
I am sure it was the standard rubber fuel line of the day. what you are noticing is the standard rubber fuel line of today is different than the standard rubber fuel line of 1968. Some of today's fuel line has a different outside diameter than that of years ago, even for the same inside diameter. Modern rubber fuel line is also made from different materials so that is is more resistant to ethanol and other chemicals used in today's fuels. What kind and size of hose is used between the fuel filter and the metal return line on 1968 s with the 390/427 ? There are several threads on this site that give the SAE standards for modern rubber fuel lines. That standard should be marked on your new fuel line. It might be worth your time to look that up and be sure your new rubber fuel line meets that standard.
It is actually prudent for us to replace our aged rubber fuel lines with modern equivalents for safety reasons. Even while sitting in storage the old rubber fuel lines can fail and allow the fuel in the tank to empty onto the floor. It goes without saying, but I will anyway: THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING.Terry- Top
