Lothar, I have been watching to see if you got any replies. My 9900 has Phillips and 19,000 I owned had hex bolts. I have thought that the change from phillips to bolts occurred in May but have seen original cars later than that with phillip screws. I see that the 6th edition says that late 63's had the hex head bolts.
Took me a long time to find the correct phillip head screws. They are a driven screw which means the Plus sign on the screw is wider and deeper than a typical hardware store screw. The head on originals is also thicker. Now maybe someone will chirp in. Thanks, John D.
To add to Johns post the JM spells out late as being the last 4 months. Maybe someone will post dates on there hex heads. my car is like Johns 10,6xx. I think you may find a approx. date only and that during Judging, It may be a no deduct anyway with most, or maybe 1 pt..
