1967 Brake Caliper Cotter Pin Location?

Can someone please tell me the correct factory location, inboard or outboard, of the cotter pin which is in the rod that goes thru the brake pads on a 1967?

Stephen is correct, the reason being that if the cotter pin ever fails the pin will be retained by the wheel. Bill

Thank you. The reason I bring this up is I recently purchased four rebuilt calipers from one of the major rebuilders and they all were outboard. Bill's reason makes sense to me.

Also if the ends of the pin are outboard and bent and cut too long, they can hit the wheel, particularly KO's.
