The lube chart for the 57 AIM notes that the transmission and differential use GO 90 and when broken down from the 1000 car level the transmission uses one quart and the differential uses 3 3/4 gallons. This doesn't sound logical to me. Are these numbers correct or is there an error in the AIM. JIM

Re: 1957 aim
From memory I recall that the B-W T-10 is 2.5 pints, and the C2 axle is 3.7 pints. No way the C1 axle could hold 3.75 gallons. Pints is more likely. Check the owner's manual and ST-12.
The oil spec for the trans and axle back then was Mil-L-2105. The modern equivalent is SAE 80W-90 GL-5, which should be available at any auto parts store. Brand makes no difference. Just make sure it has the API certification for the above spec.
