Hi, Corvette People:
1. What is the first year that air conditioning was offered as an option for Corvettes?
2. What 396 and 427 engines used in Corvettes are SOLID LIFTER engines?

63 first year for c-60. the 65 396 and the 427 425 HP,435 HP and L-88 had solids as well. the 427 390 HP and the 427 400 HP had hydraulic lifters. i don't go beyond 1967. mike

The pdf download is an electronic copy of the paper package GM used to offer for free. Part of the pdf is info GM sent to dealers and part is specific technical Manufacturer's information/specification about the cars. Sections cover engine, etc. Hope this helps.

As far as after 1967 goes, 1968-69 L-71, L-89, L-88 and ZL-1 were equipped with mechanical lifters. 1971 LS-6 was equipped with mechanical lifters. No other 1968-74 Corvette big block was originally equipped with solid lifters.

The only 1968+ small block equipped with mechanical lifters was 1970-72 LT-1.
