I'm in the process of restoring the entire interior of my 67 Convertible. What I'm confused about is the carpet underlayment. Unless I overlooked it, from what I've found in the judging manual the underlayment isn't discussed. Is the jute/rubber underlayment all that is required? Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: 67 Covertible carpet judging
Jute backing was original but as stated you can't judge what ya can't see. I would suggest something less apt to absorb moisture and or order. The more modern under matts are far better if you conceal there use.- Top

I would suggest the under layment below the carpet will not be densernable "feel" from original to modern optional material.- Top

Gene, If it smells bad, it's original. I think the judges with crisp noses could tell the difference.- Top

Kerry
I had good results with Nicole 80Milsound deadened sold by Amazon. It's similar to Duramat. Thinner with a sticky backing.
I see Amazon is out of stock. But sure the other brands that are butyl are pretty much the same.- Top
