      Need more info.....

      Is it aluminum or steel?

      Thickness?

      Hole diameter? (3/8" ?)

Hole center to center spacing? (looks apx 3 3/4")

Appears to be more of a reinforcement than a shim.

Reminds me of a 62 powerglide starter shim/spacer.

Geoff, shouldn't you be at the warehouse doing inventory, rather than causing consternation on a Sunday?

There was nothing like that on my 59 when I disassembled it for a restoration. What area did it come from?

I thought these flat steel parts were from a couple of 59's I raped, molested & dismembered. Boned out to the very last dash board metal bracing. Totally filleted. There are 5 pieces; all identical; the Zinc plating added by me - as everything was re-plated in Zinc because it was cheap.
Any how they may have arrived with a pick up bed load of 53-57 parts purchased after a 1970's Greenwich, CT swap meet from another part ***** on LI who shall not be named.
