Neutral Safety Switch for 1964 Corvette w/Power Glide Trans Replacementwhich

Can anyone tell me if the 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS w/Power Glide Trans Neutral Safety Switch be a correct replacement fit for my 1964 Corvette w/Power Glide Trans as in looking at it close it appears to be the correct application to a tee. Has same Three connectors and four wires which on the surface looks exactly what is currently on car that would include the backup lights to work.

Yes, it will work. Several people I know of are using that switch. You may have to change to four connectors to make it look correct.

Roy Did you find a nos switch or someone who is selling a reproduction ? As iam looking for one also.

The back up wires, have a double black connector. Two black wires one with green strip second with pink. I guess that is only three connectors. The one on ebay will work. A 359 is from a 1968-69 Chevy van. I have changed the color of the wires and color of the connect to match the correct 64 switch. I have done two and they work great. Despite what you hear ,GM did use the switch in other applications. 1963 SS and a van. the numbers and wire colors are different but the switch is the same. The one on ebay has been there for awhile, make him an offer. Jerry

The 1963 Impala SS with Powerglide neutral safety start switch is NOT the same as the 1963 Corvette switch. It may be very similar but there has to be some difference. The Corvette switch was GM #1993617 or, with back-up lamps, GM #1993637. The Impala SS switch was GM #1993618 (back-up lamps were standard). If the switches were identical, they would not have different part numbers.

the switch will work with a little modification, but I also was told from ProTeam Corvettes Parts Dept. that they have 90% rebuild success and to send them my Switch and a check for Repair and shipping and if they could fix they would and cash check and if they couldn't they would return Switch and my check so I did just that. Last Thursday they notified me they were able to rebuild and they shipped rebuilt switch back to me and it works.
