Chet, I have used a product called spray tack, it help that gasket stay in place and will help seal in the oil, to keep the oil from weeping by the gasket. Remember that if you are working with a surface that has deep scratch's, nicks, I would put a light coat of permatex- right stuff on the gaskets, its the best sealer on the market.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

My problem with using a sealant is you are working on a time table before the sealant dries. And for me getting all parts align and in place takes a little time, depending on how lucky I get.- Top

the sealant I use has some working time, I think its about 20-30 minutes, I have done both Munice and Borg Warners. If your dealing with smooth surface's just use the spray tack. and make sure to let set and wear gloves.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
