Gary - The compressor back plate on our Sept 66, S/N 1476, build 67 reads
C220
6555302
R 15
I checked some other Chevrolet/Chevelle AC compressors that I have & there are other formats but the # 6555302 appears on the rear flange of the compressors I checked & the '67 NCRS TIM&JG does indicate part # 6555302 is cast into it below the casting date & there is a photo of the rear flange. Unfortunately, I have not checked other '67 Corvette AC compressor rear flanges so I don't know if other configurations exist.
Peter,
C 22 0 cast under the manifold would be: C=March, 22 = day, O = 1970. The 6555302 was on all that did not have the thermal switch. (I) is also used on the casting date.
Hi Gary, sorry didn't get back top you yesterday. I worked on my truck till around 8:30 last night and got to go finish it up hopefully in a little while. Anyway, I think you are OK with the L10 date on your compressor but I think there should be a 6 after the 10 for 1966. Domenic might can chime in on that and let us know for sure. Our compressor has a date of L156 which is Dec 15 1966 for my wife's Feb. 67 vette. The sticker on top of the compressor also has a date of 122262 which is Dec 22 1966 2nd shift I believe.
Hi AL,
Hope all is blowing cold, The clincher here is that the casting dates are raised letters and my guess is that the only one that is raised is the A-1. The long casting number is recessed and L10 would also be recessed if I am correct. No one has figured out the letters and numbers under the long casting numbers yet. I think those may be a batch number or shift.

Here's an example of the cast letter "I" (September), and the number "1" in the 15 (day of month) 4 = 1964.. I believe the I or 1 used the same character.
PS: the original picture was shot in portrait format, but it seems that DB software rotates to panorama, and I don't know how to override.
